Friday, 11 September 2015 – H.E Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Hj.Mulia, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Association (AIPA) has expressed his appreciation and thanks to all ASEAN countries and other participating countries during the Closing Ceremony of the 36th AIPA General Assembly held at 10 am, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Also present were the Secretary General of AIPA, Mr.P.O. Ram and heads of delegation of the countries involved.
The 36th President of AIPA was photographed together with AIPA Secretary General and members of the Senate and the House of Representatives who attended the Closing Ceremony of AIPA General Assembly.
A total of 25 resolutions touching on various issues affecting the ASEAN countries, particularly in the political, economic, social and organizational matters were discussed during the 5 days of the assembly. Issues related to women and gender equality were also emphasized.
In his speech, the President of AIPA has announced that Myanmar could not host the AIPA General Assembly next year because the country will hold their general elections and he hoped that before September 2016, the next host for the 37th AIPA General Assembly can be identified.
