Wednesday, 30 September 2015 –Dr. Andrew Southcott, the Member of Parliament of Australia and his delegation gave a courtesy call to H.E. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia, Speaker of The House of Representatives and H.E. Tan Sri Abu Zajar Ujang, President of The Senate at two different locations.

The courtesy call to H.E. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia, Speaker of The House of Representatives by Dr.Andrew Southcott was held at the Courtesy Call Room of Parliament of Malaysia at 10.15 a.m. Present were Hon. Fong Kui Lun, Member of Parliament for Bukit Bintang, Encik Awang Alik Jeman, Chief Administrator of Parliament of Malaysia dan Datuk Roosme Hamzah, Secretary of The House of Representatives.

In the meeting that lasted almost an hour, both leaders took the opportunity to discuss the procedure and the way each Parliament conducts its meeting, and the implementation of the “Prime Minister Question Time” of the Parliament of Australia which has attracted the interest of Parliament of Malaysia. The Speaker of The House of Representatives also received an invitation for a return visit to the Parliament of Australia.

The courtesy call to H.E. Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang, President of The Senate by the Australian delegation was held at The Seraya Room at the Seri Pacific Hotel at 11 a.m. Also present were a few Senators. They were Hon. Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman, Hon. Senator Datuk Seri Nallakaruppan, Hon. Senator Datuk Seri Haji Abdul Halim Abd. Samad, Hon. Senator Tuan Haji Abdul Shukor P A Mohd Sultan, Hon. Senator Dato’ Jaspal Singh and Hon. Senator Datuk Haji Megat Zulkarnain.

The courtesy call was very important as it could improve the diplomatic relations and enable exchange of views on matters on Parliament meetings of both countries.
