Monday, 7 September, 2015 - The 36th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary (AIPA) kicked off with the 36th Committee Meeting of the Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA), which was officiated by H.E. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Hj. Mulia Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of AIPA. The meeting commenced at 9 am at Sarawak Room, Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Also present were Hon. Senator Datuk Doris S.Brodi, Deputy President of the Senate, Mr. P.O. Ram, AIPA Secretary General and Women Parliamentarians from participating countries.

Also present was Hon. Senator Datuk Doris S. Brodie, Deputy President of the Senate cum Chairperson of WAIPA meeting this time.
 

President of AIPA handed over the official gavel to Hon. Senator Datuk Doris S.Brodi, Deputy President of the Senate as a symbolic remark to conduct WAIPA meeting as chairperson. Hon. Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin, Member of Parliament for Batu Sapi was appointed as rapporteur.

Among the important matters discussed during the meeting were issues regarding gender equality and violence against women and children in ASEAN.
