FIVE SENATORS SWORN IN AS SENATOR

Monday, 22 June 2015 - National DAP vice chairman Hon. Senator Datuk Dr Ariffin SM Omar, who was reappointed as a senator, was sworn in as a member of the Senate along with four new senators recently. Previously, Hon. Senator Dr. Ariffin had held the post beginning on June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2015 and was reappointed and will hold office until June 1, 2018. The ceremony was held before H.E. Senator Tan Sri Abu Zahar, President of the Senate and other Members of the Senate at 10 am at Parliament of Malaysia.

The four newly elected Senators are Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) executive council member, Hon. Senator Puan Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail, aged 30 years and Setiu UMNO division committee member Hon. Senator Datuk Abdul Rahman Mat Yasin aged 59 years. Other newly appointed members of the Senate are Pahang MCA chairman Hon. Senator Datuk Hoh Khai Mun and Kuala Krau Wanita UMNO chief, Hon. Senator Puan Hajjah Norahan binti Abu Bakar.
