Bagi Ahli Dewan Negara, tempoh mengisi jawatan adalah selama 3 tahun dan Ahli tersebut hanya boleh dilantik semula sekali lagi sahaja, secara berturut mahupun tidak. Bagi Ahli Dewan Rakyat pula, seseorang Ahli akan mengisi kerusi bagi tempoh 5 tahun selagi Parlimen tidak dibubarkan ataupun Ahli tersebut hilang kelayakan.

For Members of the Senate, the term of office is 3 years and a Senator may only be re-appointed once, consecutively or non-consecutively. For Members of the House of Representatives, a Member will occupy a seat for the period of 5 years as long as the Parliament is not dissolved, or the Member is disqualified.
