| INTRODUCTION |
| The
Parliament Malaysia Resource Centre is a centre of
excellence for reference for legislative, parliamentary,
government and public administration matters that
supports the research needs of Parliamentarians and
staff in the belief that information and knowledge
is a lifelong learning process.
The
Parliament Malaysia Resource Centre is continuously
improving its services and resources to generate information
and knowledge that meet the needs of Parliamentarians
and to produce a society of knowleadegeable Parliamentarians
for both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

| As
a centre of excellence for reference on Parliamentary
matters and Malaysian politics and to proactively
fulfill the information, research and knowledge needs
of Parliamentarians.

| COLLECTION |
| i. |
Parliament
Publications
Parliamentary
documents include materials issued by the
Parliament on legislative matters, such as
Official Statement, Proceeding Agenda, Votes
and Meeting Procedures, Bills, Statute papers,
Order papers and Orders and Assembly Council,
Regulations of House of Representative and
The Senate. This also includes legislative
papers, such as Parliamentary Debate Committee
Reports from Singapore, Australia, New Zealand,
India and America. |

Malaysian
Legal Collection
Includes
all Malaysian acts, federal and state gazettes
and subsidiary legislatures. |
| iii. |
Monograph Collection
Monograph
formed a major part of the library’s
collection. It is divided into the Malay language
and English language collection in various
subjects such as on legislature, constitution,
governance, management, motivation, political
figures, parliament and general collection.

Journal Collection
The
library subscribes to journals on local and
international issues, legislature, governance
and other matters related to the mission and
vision of Parliament. |

Online Databases
The
Library subscribes to NSTP e-media, LawNet,
Mylib (CLJ Legal Network, EBSCO, MASTICLink,BLIS,
Bond, SIRIMLink), Modern Asia Studies and
i-Capital online databases that provides legislative
information, journals, newspapers, governance,
finance, science and business information. |

Publications
Publications
from ministries, government and non-government
agencies, institutions and parliaments local
and oversea are acquired as gift. |

| CATALOGING SYSTEM |
| Books
in the library are catalogued using the Dewey Decimal
Classification (DDC). Users may use the class number
to trace the books in their respective shelf.

| MEMBERSHIP |
Membership
of the library is open to Parliamentarians from both
the House of Representatives and The Senate and Parliament
staff only. Other users from government, public, private
agencies and individuals need to write in officially
to the Chief Administrator of Parliament Malaysia for
permission to use the Library and will be charged a
fee of RM30.00 per day.

BORROWING
FACILITIES
Parliamentarians
can borrow 3 books for 4 weeks and Parliament
staff can borrow 3 books for 3 weeks. Inter
– library loan services are made with
other libraries on request for titles not
in the collection.
A
fine of 10 cent are imposed on late return
of each book. The borrower must settle the
fine in full in order to resume the privilege
of borrowing books.

SERVICES
Books
may be reserved by filling in the reservation
form or by telephone or by sending an e-mail.

CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICES
The
current titles are published with abstract
in the listing of Current Collection published
at every Parliamentary session and Selected.

REPOGRAPHY
SERVICES
Photocopying
services are provided to Parliamentarians
and staff. Non-members are charged
20 cent per page.

Internet
There are 11 multimedia computers available
with Internet connection.
