Members of the Select Committee will be elected at the beginning of each Parliamentary session to carry out responsibilities stipulated by the Regulations. The Select Committee also manages other matters given to them from time to time.

The Select Committee consists of the President/Speaker or Tuan Yang di-Pertua as the Chairman and six council members elected by the Council. The Select Committee has to notify the Council when a member becomes a member of a particular Committee by issuing a statement. The Select Committee does not have the power to summon anyone to be present before it or to request for the issuing of letters except if given the power to do so by the Council.
